Wakefield Crew Green Days

This fall, Wakefield Crew is hosting "Green Days"--open practices designed for people curious about the sport--on  the following Saturdays: September 30 and October 7 (Note that the September 23rd practice has been cancelled due to a tropical storm weather advisory.) RSVP HERE for any of the Green Days, or if you have questions, contact our head coach, Russell Topp.

Wakefield Crew

Wakefield Crew is committed to breaking down barriers to the sport of rowing. We welcome all Wakefield students, as well as H.B. Woodlawn/Arlington Tech students who are districted for Wakefield High School. Wakefield Crew operates at the intersection of inclusion and success.

Our program is run out of the Anacostia Community Boathouse in Southeast DC, where we practice from mid-February until late May. From mid-November until mid-February, the team trains at Wakefield High School.

Wakefield is a member of the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association (VASRA). The team competes regionally in March, April, and early May before traveling in mid-May for the Stotesbury Cup Regatta and SRAA Nationals.

In 2022 Wakefield Crew was the most successful crew team in Virginia, with the boys and girls teams sweeping the state championships and the girls second 8 and boys freshman 8 earning 5th place at SRAA Nationals that same year. The 2023 season has garnered more impressive wins, notably with the girls first varsity 8 retaining its state champion title for the third year straight, and the team sending the girls 1V, the girls freshman 8, and a men's single to the SRAA Nationals.
